i can remember the first time i heard heavens to betsy (a former band of sk member corin tucker). it was really intense and i never quite got over not being able to see them live. i still think the full album by h2b is one of my favorites. so when i heard about her new band sleater-kinney, i was pretty stoked. of course i only got to see them for the first time in may 2000, at the 9:30 club in wdc. i actually didnt have a ticket for the show because i didnt think it would sell out, but apparently it sold out two weeks before the night of the show. i was very fortunate because an acquantance of mine was at the show, who was helping set up, let me in. it was supposed to be a benefit for helping individual prostitutes survive (where i volunteer) but things got screwed up i guess. im very glad i got to see this show. its interesting to note that someone commented to me that if you watch old videos of the who, that carrie brownstein moves around the stage very similarly to one of the members. another note is that there is only one picture of corin, because i didnt get inside early enough and these pricks who werent even fucking taking pictures were blocking my view.
